Heading into April

A message from Luke

Heading into April and we can feel the first changes of the season. This weekend was an important time as we pause to celebrate Easter. A time for many of us to acknowledge the true meaning and hope of Easter that can be found for all. I hope you all had a blessed weekend with your loved ones, enjoying a time of reflection, forgiveness, renewal, and hope. As we find ourselves in the middle of school holidays, I have listed below free activities for the kids to enjoy over the break. I am hearing from many of you around the electorate that times are becoming increasingly tougher under the Albanese Labor Government. From 13 interest rate rises, to increasing rent prices and a housing crisis, grocery prices soaring and electricity bills skyrocketing. Anthony Albanese and his Ministers do not have the best interest of the Australian people in mind and it shows. I will continue to do my best in holding the Government to account for their bad decisions and inaction. From Petrie to Parliament, I am your trusted voice to prosecute the issues that matter most to you. Have a wonderful April, and I look forward to seeing you around the electorate. Hon. Luke Howarth MP Federal Member for Petrie Shadow Assistant Treasurer Shadow Minister for Financial Services

SHADOW MINISTRY CHANGES

On Tuesday 5 March, I was honoured to accept the role of Shadow Assistant Treasurer and Shadow Minister for Financial Services.

We haven’t seen a financial squeeze like this in decades. Australians are being negatively impacted under this Albanese Labor Government.

We believe the Australian people aren’t being put first under the current Government and I look forward to working with a strong Coalition finance team, with my colleagues The Hon. Angus Taylor MP and Senator the Hon. Jane Hume.

It will be our priority to introduce policies and speak on behalf of the Australian people to make sure they get what they deserve.

Only a Coalition Government can move Australia in the right direction financially, to ensure Australians can receive the cost-of-living relief they are seeking.

During my time as Shadow Minister for Defence Industry and Defence Personnel, it became clear that the Albanese Labor Government are out of their depth when it comes to Defence and are not serious about investing the dollars the ADF needs today, with the majority of announcements beyond the forward estimates.

I have no doubt that under continued leadership of Hon. Andrew Hastie MP and Phillip Thompson OAM MP, that the Coalition will continue to hold the Government to account and ensure that the men and women of our defence force and industry who are on the front line keeping our nation safe are given the respect and priority they deserve.

Clean up Australia Day

With a team of volunteers, we met at Queens Beach in Scarborough to clean up the environment & look after our community!

Thank you to the volunteers for donating their time to keep our community clean.

I was honoured to open the Redcliffe Mahjong Club tournament. Wonderful to meet Lisette and her fabulous team!

This years theme was peace, love and mahjong, as participants maintain and create new friendships through this fast growing game.

2024 PARLIAMENT

Parliament has returned for this year, and I have the privilege of representing Petrie and being able to bring forward the issues that matter most to you. If there is something you would like me to raise in Parliament, please email me at Luke.Howarth.mp@aph.gov.au

Below are some speeches I have completed in Parliament.

NRL DOLPHINS 2024 SEASON

The 2024 NRL Season has kicked off and I couldn't be prouder of our Dolphins. Always giving 100% in every game and never giving up. An incredible example for our young ones to learn with sport. I was lucky enough to catch up with Dolphins stars Josh Kerr and Isaiya Katoa a few weeks ago. Chatting all things Redcliffe, Pre-Season training, footy and coffee. Make sure you get down to Kayo Stadium or Suncorp Stadium to support our mighty Dolphins. #PhinsUP
