Luke Howarth MP Secures $500,000 for Redcliffe Coast Guard

Federal Member for Petrie Luke Howarth MP has today announced $500,000 Australian Government funding to help Redcliffe Coast Guard continue providing vital services.

The funding will be put towards an extension and refurbishment of the Redcliffe Coast Guard headquarters at Thurecht Parade, Scarborough.

Luke Howarth MP has been working with the organisation, its members and supporters to secure this funding because the Coast Guard has outgrown its Scarborough premises.

“Moreton Bay is one of the most beautiful places in the world, and so many of us live here because of the access to beaches, waterways and recreation activities,” said Luke Howarth MP.

“I’ve worked hard to secure this funding because the Coast Guard helps keep us safe on the water and an extension to their clubhouse will ensure they are equipped to support our boating community, well into the future.

“The only way we’ll keep our community going strong is by improving public facilities and increasing opportunities as our region evolves.”

The funding announcement comes on the day of the Federal Budget, which will build a stronger economy and secure a better Australia for every Australian.

The Morrison Government is working to keep our economy strong, keep Australians safe and keep Australians together.

The Government’s plan for a stronger economy is:

  • Lower taxes to encourage and reward working Australians, and to lower cost of living
  • Backing small businesses to create more jobs
  • Bringing the Budget back to surplus
  • Guaranteeing funding for schools, hospitals and other essential services
  • Keeping Australians safe
