DECEPTION BAY JOB SEEKER BOOT CAMP BIGGER THAN EVER BEFORE
Federal Member for Petrie Luke Howarth is expecting record numbers at his Deception Bay Job Seeker Boot camp taking place this month.
The free information session aimed at local job seekers has already attracted more than 150 rsvpâs and itâs expected that even more people will attend the employment info session being held at Market Square on Thursday.
The October 2019 event will feature six guest speakers from a range of local businesses including event sponsor APM, Australiaâs largest provider of Disability Employment Services.
Mr Howarth said itâs important to address the issue of unemployment in Petrie, particularly amongst young people, and the boot camps were designed to bring candidates, employers, resources and discussion all under the one roof.
âI came up with the idea of a job seeker boot camp in 2014, and Iâve been hosting them ever since. Theyâre always very well received and Iâm proud to have been able to help hundreds of people understand the job market a little better, and even go out and get a job.â
âAs a former small business owner Iâm incredibly passionate about making sure that locals in my electorate have what they need to get a job, succeed in life and get ahead.â
âSince coming into power in 2013 the Coalition Government has created more than 1.4 million jobs, weâre supporting the small and medium business sector and weâre committed to making sure all Australians are getting a hand up not a hand out,â said Mr Howarth.
The event will provide job seekers with the opportunity to meet local employers and to get a greater understanding of what an employer is looking for in a potential employee for example, how to write a resume, interview responses, presentation and attitude.
