$25,000 FUNDING BOOST FOR VETERAN ADVOCACY SERVICES IN PETRIE

Friday, 18 October 2019

Veterans and their families in the electorate of Petrie will soon benefit from the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) grants program to assist with the delivery of vital support services for members.

The Redcliffe Sub Branch of RSL Queensland will receive $24,987.66 from the DVA’s Building Excellence in Support and Training (BEST) grants program as part of the Australian Government’s commitment to support ex-service organisations providing compensation and welfare advocacy.

Luke Howarth MP, Federal Member for Petrie, said securing this significant amount of funding will allow the RSL to put veterans in and around the Redcliffe Peninsula first.

“It is through the dedication and hard work of ex-service and community organisations that veterans and their families receive services, support and opportunities allowing them to continue active roles in their local communities,” Mr Howarth said.

“The Redcliffe Sub Branch has played a crucial role in supporting veterans’ health and welfare through their programs so I thank them for providing funding when it is most needed.

“The Australian Government will continue supporting veterans and their families by providing more than $4 million to 139 projects across the country.”
