FUNDING ON OFFER FOR LOCAL DISABILITY ORGANISATIONS

The Australian Government has opened the second round of Transition Assistance Funding to help businesses build their workforce capabilities to effectively operate in the NDIS.

With a total funding pool of $8.8 million is available in this latest round, Federal Member for Petrie Luke Howarth MP, said he encouraged disability and aged care organisations in the electorate to apply for their share of funding, with 440 grants worth up to $20,000 each, currently on offer.

“This funding would be hugely beneficial to local organisations in their early stages of transition, and will go a long way to help ensure local businesses have the tools and capabilities needed to deliver support to NDIS participants,” Mr Howarth said.

“The funding can be used for tailored business advice, software upgrades and other one-on-one support that will help local businesses become ‘NDIS-ready’.

“The objective of the Transition Assistance Funding is to help providers transition to the NDIS while also creating more jobs in the disability and aged care sectors, particularly within regional, rural and outer metropolitan areas across Australia.”

Minister for the National Disability Insurance Scheme, Stuart Robert, recently announced the recipients of the Boosting the Local Care Workforce program’s first Transition Assistance Funding.

“An additional 90,000 full-time equivalent employees are required to meet the demand for NDIS services over the next five years, which is why the Government is investing in programs that support providers to transition and develop their workforces,” Mr Robert said.

The second round of Transition Assistance Funding is open now and will close at 11pm on Friday 8 November 2019.
