End of Financial Year Means…
It’s July and that means one thing… a tax cut!
As of 1 July, you will receive an income tax cut legislated by the previous Coalition Government. This will mean more money in your pay packet each week.
It’s a great opportunity to consider how you might invest this money—perhaps towards rent, paying off a mortgage, an additional contribution to your superannuation or maybe savings towards a first home deposit via the First Home Super Saver scheme.
Despite of this, I am aware that many of you have been going through a tough time during the past two years under the Albanese Labor Government. It definitely hasn’t been easy.
As the second half of 2024 approaches, I am hearing more and more from Australians about their financial challenges with:
– Rents skyrocketing
– Insurance costs going through the roof
– Grocery prices increasing
– Electricity prices becoming steeper
Every Australian deserves and should expect access to cheaper, cleaner and consistent electricity. But under Labor, this isn’t happening. The Coalition has a plan for Nuclear Energy.
A future Federal Coalition Government will introduce zero-emissions nuclear energy in Australia, which has proven to keep electricity prices and emissions down all over the world, to work in partnership with renewable energy and gas as part of a balanced energy mix.
A key advantage of modern zero-emission nuclear plants is they can be plugged into existing grids. This means they can effectively replace retired or retiring coal plants and avoid much of the new spending needed for Labor’s ‘renewables-only’ system, including new transmission poles and wires – which will be passed on in the form of higher bills.

If there is anything I can do to assist you or your family, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
I hope you all have a safe and blessed month of July.

SHADOW MINISTRY
Thank you to Shadow Minister for Communications and Member for Banks, David Coleman, for visiting our Petrie electorate. During David's visit, we attended a leadership lunch at Aspley State High School to discuss Social Media and being safe online. The students had very wise answers and had a thorough understanding of the risks of being online. Additionally, we hosted an eSafety and Social Media Forum at The Komo for parents and guardians. This night was complete with special guest Samantha Jockel, Founder and CEO of ParentTV. Sam spoke with passion for protecting our children from the online world and how we as parents and guardians can form better relationships with our children. David Coleman, Shadow Minister for Communications, spoke regarding the Coalitions stance on increasing the minimum Social Media age from 13 to 16, as well as how we will submit new industry standards through the eSafety Commissioner.
Earlier in June, I visited Perth as part of my Shadow Ministry role to connect with financial services professionals and had the opportunity to hear real world experiences about the industry. I found it beneficial to consult in this way. One on one conversations and small round table discussions are always insightful.
This trip allowed me to witness how financial advisors in Western Australia are affected by the Albanese Labor Government working against the industry.
Bowel Cancer Australia
A pleasure to have Rachel & Jodie from my electorate in Parliament last week! Advocating for Bowel Cancer Australia as survivors of this disease. It’s important that we improve pathways and further our education and research about Bowel Cancer. They told me about how their symptoms were dismissed by multiple GP’s who said they were both too young. This is the case for many people who are later diagnosed with Bowel Cancer. Bowel Cancer is the deadliest cancer and the sixth leading cause of death overall for Australians aged 25-44. Early-onset bowel cancer means people who are diagnosed younger than 50 years of age, accounts for 11% of all new bowel cancer diagnoses. Too often, younger Australians with bowel cancer symptoms find themselves self-advocating as the only consistent and reliable source for overcoming age bias, barriers to diagnosis, and optimising outcomes for a disease that is not only on the rise, but the deadliest cancer those aged 25-44. Bowel Cancer Australia is the leading national charity dedicated to prevention, early diagnosis, research as well as quality treatment and care, so everyone affected by bowel cancer can live their best life. Being a 100% community-funded charity, recognition of their consistently high standard of work and services is only possible thanks to the generosity of their supporters and a shared commitment to championing what matters most to people affected by bowel cancer.
