$300,000 Secured for Ridge Hills United Football Club

Budding sport stars training with the Ridge Hills United Football Club will soon have a ‘brighter’ future, with funding secured for new field lighting.

Federal Member for Petrie Luke Howarth MP today announced $300,000 Australian Government funding for the lighting upgrade project.

“Currently the club have bulbs in the field lighting that require replacing every year prior to the start of the season – this costs the club $10,000 each time,” said Luke Howarth MP.

“The funding I’ve worked to secure will provide LED lights on both fields, so the cost of running the lights will halve and be more environmentally friendly at the same time.”

Luke Howarth MP said the “only way we’ll keep our community going strong is by improving public facilities and increasing opportunities as the region evolves”.

“Sporting infrastructure in particular is important because being part of a team and keeping fit and healthy has such a positive impact on people, whether we’re talking about kids or adults. Sport brings people together.”

The funding announcement comes on the day of the Federal Budget, which will build a stronger economy and secure a better Australia for every Australian.

The Morrison Government is working to keep our economy strong, keep Australians safe and keep Australians together.

The Government’s plan for a stronger economy is:

  • Lower taxes to encourage and reward working Australians, and to lower cost of living
  • Backing small businesses to create more jobs
  • Bringing the Budget back to surplus
  • Guaranteeing funding for schools, hospitals and other essential services
  • Keeping Australians safe
